Governance & Compliance

Built on accountability.

EEA's governance is not an afterthought. It is the foundation. Every policy, every procedure, and every legal registration exists because we take our responsibilities seriously.

Our Documents

The policies that
govern us.

All of EEA's governance documents were produced in our first year of operation. They are available for review by members, partners, and stakeholders on request.

POPIA Awareness

Protection of Personal Information Act

EEA is aware of its obligations under POPIA (Act 4 of 2013). Formal POPIA compliance training has not yet been completed. In the interim, member and donor information is handled with care and restricted to internal use only. This is an area we are actively working to formalise.

Legal Standing

Registered,
accountable, and legal.

EEA operates through the Centre of Economic Excellence NPC โ€” giving it legal standing for institutional partnerships, SED funding, and formal accountability.

How We Govern Ourselves

What every
EEA member commits to.

Our Code of Conduct is binding on all executive members, committee members, and general members. These are not aspirational principles โ€” they are enforceable standards.

Treat every person with respect and dignity, regardless of background
Maintain honesty in all academic and professional conduct
Protect the confidentiality of sensitive EEA information
Declare and recuse from all conflicts of interest
Attend and participate fully in meetings and events
Never use EEA's platform, resources, or name for personal gain
Report absences and fulfill all assigned responsibilities
Protect the reputation of EEA in all public engagements

Disciplinary Committee

All disciplinary matters are handled by a formal Disciplinary Committee โ€” ensuring no single person holds unaccountable power over another member's standing.

Head of Disciplinary Affairs
Branch Chairperson
Secretary (or Deputy in absentia)
Independent Overseer

Appeals are heard by a separate panel of at least 3 people โ€” none of whom participated in the original disciplinary proceedings.
