From the South African Reserve Bank to Sandton Convention Centre, from academic fun fairs to school halls in Jericho — EEA shows up where it matters.
In April 2026, EEA attended the South African Reserve Bank's Monetary Policy Forum and Soweto Talk — two days of engagement at the highest level of South African monetary policy. Members asked questions directly to the Governor of the SARB. Several EEA members were interviewed by SABC at the Soweto Talk — captured in photographs below. This is what it looks like when student-led associations operate at national level.
"EEA members stood up and asked the Governor of the Reserve Bank about monetary policy — live, on record, representing their university and their communities. That is the standard we hold ourselves to."
Three EEA members asked the SARB Governor questions during the April 2026 Monetary Policy Review. Two members were interviewed by SABC.
EEA members attended Business Show Africa at the Sandton Convention Centre — South Africa's largest business expo, connecting our students with entrepreneurs, industry professionals, and corporate exhibitors. This is what economic exposure looks like beyond the classroom.
EEA hosted an Academic Fun Fair — where academic concepts met physical challenges. Obstacle courses, icebreakers, and team games were designed with an academic twist, making learning active, social, and memorable. This was EEA at its most energetic — proof that rigour and fun are not opposites.
The 2025 EEA Induction welcomed new committee members into the organisation — formally inducting them into their roles, their responsibilities, and the values that govern EEA. Every member who joins EEA takes an Oath of Office. The induction is where that begins.
EEA recognises that academic excellence cannot exist without personal wellbeing. Our 2025 Mental Health Campaign created space for honest conversation about student mental health — with Mahlatse Phale (Director: Institutional Expansion) raising the issue formally as Head of the Disciplinary Committee.
